游萍和呂霞是一對相依為命的母女，兩人個性豁達風趣名雖母女情同姊妹，呂霞自幼習過武術曾代表家鄉參加比賽名列前茅。游萍早年與前夫呂明離異後獨自帶著呂霞生活，畢生最大的心願是為女兒找個好歸宿自己做個風光的丈母娘。
游萍始終不能忘情離異的老公遂帶著呂霞前往日本依親，看能否重拾舊緣。不料當三人在日本正要見面時，出現了冒失鬼殷雄當場把呂父撞傷，呂家母女當然饒不過他，纏著殷雄把事做個交待。
殷雄是個年輕英俊的理髮師，這次帶著堂妹殷姿到日本學習美髮造型，完全是為了替父親爭一口氣，當年在家鄉父親與叔叔同開了一家理髮廳，後來競被另一家新潮的理髮廳搶走了全部的顧客，殷父因此日日寡歡一病而去，殷雄痛心之餘立誓要學到更好的技藝為父爭光以慰天靈。
殷雄巧遇遭受男友欺騙的[雪莉]，因為同情其遭遇竟然迅速與之論及婚嫁，游萍欣賞殷雄的心性，呂霞對殷雄亦有莫名的好感，母女遂費盡心機與雪莉展開女人的戰爭。最後雪莉悟到情感的真義自願退讓，母女才鬆了口氣。呂家母女和殷雄兄妹決定回上海另謀生計，此時發生了稀世珍寶[東方彩虹]被盜事件，殷雄兄妹和呂家母女同時被捲入雙方各為其主展開行動，最後在殷雄和呂霞通力合作下，讓這件竊案得以順利破案。

great series!

i'm almost finished watching this series, and i love it! hu ping and chan hoi have great chemistry and are just so funny. the supporting cast are superb (though chan hoi's mom can be too much sometimes). i enjoyed the story and the plot progressed at a good pace. there's comedy, action, and plenty of drama; i found myself alternating between laughing and tearing up. hu ping is cute and fashionable as always and chan hoi is just so cool, especially when she's kicking butt. the comedy skits at the end of each chapter was a bit weird to me. maybe i just don't get the humour. |
