Shin Hye Sung Vol. 3 Side 1 - Live and Let Live

Like hye sung (Korean for “a comet”) blazing across the night sky, Shin Hye Sung’s third solo album Live and Let Live expects to deliver a hit of celestial proportions. Shin's latest effort is being released in two separate albums, labeled as Side 1 and Side 2. In the first installment Side 1– Live and Let Live, which is set for August release, Shin steps out of his comfort zone to deliver an eclectic mix of sounds which include alternative, British rock, swing, and big band. But fans still craving for his signature ballads won't be disappointed - the second installment Side 2 – Live and Let Live contains all ballads, and will be released in December ‘08.

The lead-off single Geu dae la seo (Track 3) features pounding British pop/rock tunes composed by VINK (formerly of the legendary rock band NEXT, who previously worked with Shinhwa on their 9th album and with Shin on his 2nd album). Other highlights include some unforgettable duet numbers such as the harmonious "Promise" (Track 9), featuring Park Seong Hwa of Yurisangja, and the retro funk Sarang hagi jo eun nal ("Perfect Day for Romance" - Track 4), featuring Miss Korea Lee Ha Nee. In addition, Wheesung and Kim Jae Seok of Wanted also lend support, pitching in their songwriting talents for their fellow artist.

그가 가을이 시작되는 여름날의 끝자락에 조금은 낯선 목소리로 또 하나의 ‘신혜성’을 담은 앨범을 발표한다.

지난, 07년 8월 8일 정규 2집 ‘THE BEGINNING, NEW DAYS’ 발매 이후 1년여 만에 3집 SIDE 1 ‘ LIVE AND LET LIVE’를 발표하는 신혜성이 어쩌면 그에게도, 10년을 지켜봐 온 음악 팬들에게도 가장 익숙한 슬픈 발라드 대신 얼터너티브, 브리티쉬 락(British Rock), 스윙, 빅밴드 등 평소 신혜성이 해보고 싶었던 여러 장르의 곡을 한 장의 앨범에 담아 버라이어티한 모습으로 돌아온다.

이번 3집은 그 동안 보여주지 못했던 ‘신혜성’의 버라이어티한 모습을 담은 SIDE 1 과 우리가 기억하는 ‘신혜성’만의 슬픈 발라드로 구성된 SIDE 2로 나뉘어 발매된다. 우선, SIDE 1 ‘LIVE AND LET LIVE’ 는 8월 26일 발매되며, 발라드가 중심이 되는 SIDE 2는 12월 발매될 예정이다. 특히 타이틀 곡 ‘그대라서’는 지난 해 발매되었던 신혜성의 2집 수록 곡 중 오케스트라 연주의 웅장함과 신비스러운 분위기로 많은 사랑을 받았던 ‘Island’와 일렉트로닉 사운드와 에릭의 나지막한 랩, 신화 멤버들의 저음 보이스의 매력이 고스란히 담겼던 신화 9집 수록 곡 ‘Voyage’를 작곡한 뮤지션 ‘VINK’의 곡으로 인기 작사가 ‘윤사라’의 아름다운 노랫말과 신혜성의 절제된 감정의 보이스가 조화를 이룬 환상적이고 아름다운 곡이다. 브리티쉬 락 (British Rock)’장르로 POP적인 멜로디와 화려하면서도 강렬한 기타 사운드, 강하면서도 애절한 신혜성의 보이스가 돋보이는 이 곡은 올 가을 가장 빛나는 또 하나의 명곡으로 기억될 것이다. 또한 새로운 변화를 시도한 이번 앨범에는 가수’휘성’ ‘유리상자’의 ‘박승화’, 그룹 ‘원티드’의 ‘김재석’ 등이 직접 참여,‘신혜성’과 함께 해 주었으며, ‘박승화’는 9번 트랙에 수록 된 ‘Promise’ 작곡 뿐만 아니라 신혜성과 듀엣으로 ‘유리상자’와는 또 다른 하모니를 보여주었고, 2006년 미스코리아 진 ‘이하늬’ 역시 ‘신혜성’과 함께 4번 트랙에 수록 된 ‘사랑하기 좋은 날’ 듀엣 곡에 사랑에 빠진 연인의 마음을 고스란히 담아냈다.

지난 10년의 시간 동안 미처 볼 수 없었던 또 다른 ‘신혜성’을 담은 ‘LIVE AND LET LIVE!! 8월 26일, 또 하나의 신혜성을 가슴에 담는다.
