L'Arc-en-Ciel 2009 Official Calendar (Japan Version)
December 15, 2008 Wow! A Beautiful Calender!I just got this calender today. It is strikingly beautiful! The size is huge (~52x72cm), roughly the same as Gackt's calender. Everything about it is excellent: Photography, setting, color, style and size. Some of the pictures are off black & white while the others are color. There is only one picture that I think is slightly too dark. You have to tear the calender bimonthly in order to get to the new page. I wish the paper could have been heavier, but then it would have a harder time staying up on the wall.
Get it if it becomes available again. It is just very pleasant to look at because it is so beautiful and classy with Hyde & L'Arc-en-Ciel in it with the Paris Street and River Seine as backgrounds in a few of the pictures. The only flaw is that the Sept/Oct picture is showing a member smoking. Even that picture is very nice. I wish all members of L'Arc-en-Ciel would quit smoking!Did you find this review helpful? December 4, 2008 Worth It!Jade is wrong! There are 7 pictures in this calender because she forgot the cover picture.:) You won't regret getting this because of its size and printing quality. The photography is good and there are different styles of pictures from the various months. Gackt needs no descriptions and probably is the most attractive man on planet earth, lol! But it is absolutely beautiful and is one of my favorite photo albums. The spirit and aura of L'Arc~en~Ciel is well captured by the excellent photography. The pictures were taken off-stage at night mostly in the Paris streets and indoor. Each member has their own set of photos. The photographer is artistic and masterful, first rate no doubt. The photo album is hard cover. Each printing page is folded once with two different pictures printed on the front and back of the folded paper. So, you only get half of the reported pages. It is rather expensive, but I just love Hyde and L'Arc~en~Ciel and the photography is just worth it. I recommend getting this if you are L'Arc~en~Ciel's fan. Did you find this review helpful? A Must Get!What can I say about Wheesung except that he is absolutely one of my top favorite singers. I'm really happy with his progress and hard works. I've given 5 stars to almost all of the singing tracks. I think Wheesung's voice is strained slightly in Track 2. I really wish that he will take good care of his vocal cord by slowing down a little. Track 7 is really a cool song both musically and vocally, and it is worth the CD alone. But you should get this CD to see what a colorful, soulful and talented singer Wheesung is! He composed 2 tracks and wrote lyrics on 5 tracks I think. The sound is current and I hear something similar to Tae Yang and Rain's CDs. So, get it! To Wheesung: Thanks! But I missed a very important part on the 3rd disk which is slightly damaged during transportation. There are clips on Moon Hee Jun, Kang Ta and other three members of H.O.T that you don't want to miss! It is an enjoyment while a little sad to watch them talked about their albums and works, giving their opinions, joking and teasing each other around. They are smart, as well as musically talented. I want to mention that I had purchased all JTL's albums after I became H.O.T's fan. Their album, Enter The Dragon is a must have. JTL was also excellent in its own and it reaffirmed why H.O.T was the best because they all have excellent vocals.
Also there is a clip of Moon Hee Jun, Kang Ta, Jun Jin (Shinhwa) & the cute Yu Jin (S.E.S.) at a show. You don't want to miss this at all because the three guys are showing off their dance steps while trying to be funny. They all dance well. Kang Ta of course always looks handsome and princely. But the already handsome Jun Jin is absolutely one of the most gorgeous men from Korea or anywhere on earth, lol!
If you're Moon Hee Jun, H.O.T or JTL's fan, this is an absolute must get! A slice of history is here!!!!!
I wish that the video clip of Outside Castle would be included in this package, but it is not. But just get it anyway!
I really wish that Moon Hee Jun, Kang Ta and the rest of the H.O.T members will be re-united to produce a CD or concert when they can cast aside their differences and previous hurts.

I know I'm partial to him because he is absolutely one of my most favorite singers (2nd or 3rd place?), lol! I absolutely love his impressive vocals, musical talents and his gift as a singer. He did reasonably well at the concert, although not much running on the stage as a rocker. I like the stage lighting graphics which is excellent. I think he can improve on his stage clothes and choreography. (Please get ride of those baggy pants and heavy boots! Sometimes, well-made T shirts & blue jeans will just do for real singers, lol!) And PLEASE, PLEASE no real FIRE on stage next time or at any concert!!!!!
From the concert DVD, I got to hear one of my all time favorite, Generous..... and it's also the concert fans' favorite too. My other favorite tracks, To Live is For Fight, Persian Black Hole, Mayfly...etc. as well as the latest track, Take It....Fire are all in the concert. He did not disappoint! All Moon Hee Jun fans should get this package! The poster (~43x62 cm) is exactly the picture you get on the DVD cover. The color is pretty. He is at his best vocally and the melodies of the tracks are very good, better than Vol. 5 in my opinion. His vocals hasn't changed that much over the years because he is an excellent singer from the very beginning. I also love his pleasant and gentle demeanor. My computer crashed again recently, so I'm not going to fetch my iTunes file to name my favorite tracks. But just believe me that this CD is one of his best. The Max in my last review because I'm pretty sure that I had it spelled correctly by reading it twice before my submission. This would have been my second time misspelled the group's name, if that's the case I want to apologize. My comment on this CD stays the same. This CD is just not rock, period! The music quality of the few fast tracks is not very good. So, get it if you don't believe me. Track 7 is the only track that I've rated with 5 stars and it is a wonderful ballad. M.C. The Max & Isu are excellent quality group and singer and they can do better. So, get their other CDs to find out! I wish I could have given this a better rating. To M.C. I care a lot about M.C. The Max and Isu, their lead singer. They are among my favorite groups and favorite singers. BUY all their previous albums and Isu's solo albums. Instead of spending time to develop and explore alternatives for the group, I feel that this album is hastily put together and call rock. It doesn't do any justice to the group! There are only seven tracks in this CD and they read like a novel. I don't understand Korean, but luckily half the Lyrics are in English. By conjecture and guessing, I think that this CD conveys someone in love despair and still carries hope. My favorite tracks are the beginning track, Butterfly Effect and Track 4. I think that Epik High is literally talented as they are musically. They write lyrics that has depth. In Butterfly Effect, the English lyrics is short but philosophical written. It rhymed nicely and at the same time describing the dilapidated human conditions.
Musically, Butterfly Effect gives off a mystical and atmospheric beginning like some of Gackt's music with the adding of very soft human breathing sounds. I also like the ending which is totally music. When emotional suffering in love, there is no one better than Ha Dong Kyung, one of my top favorite singers to sing the jazzy part in Track 4. He is not perfect, but close. Listen to the fusion of jazzy and hip-hop. It's amazing!
I think Epik High spent a lot of effort on this CD. I like to compliment the designer and photographer as well because their art works are excellent.
You should explore this CD yourself because I haven't described the other tracks yet. I can tell you that Tracks 2, 3 & 7 are 4 stars and Track 6 is a three stars. So, go find out! I wish continuing success to Epik High!:)Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

The track is refreshing with its drum beats and electronic sounds. TVXQ's heartfelt vocals is amazing, so soothing and full with feelings and emotions. Whatever feelings that is dormant inside you will be awaken and moved by their wonderful vocals and the soothing melody. The original track of Doushite is also one of my favorites too. This CD is an absolute must get! I'm so proud of them! I got U-Know's card from this package and Hero's on the other version. Both are handsome boys with beautiful and intelligent eyes, lol! Rating:93/100This calender is not perfect, but overall pretty and I think is very good to excellent value depending on your preference. There are solo pictures for each member and they all posed in front of a brownish brick wall. They all look very good except for the same background post which you might find a little boring. The overall feel of the calender or setting is in an old American barn. There are 4 group pictures and the rest with 2 or 3 members in open space or other parts of the barn. The colors are pretty in brownish tones and black & white. The color quality can be better though because some pictures are slightly too dark. The calender is printed on excellent poster quality paper. The winter clothes that they wear is slightly British and classic but stylish, a huge upgrade from what they were wearing standing at the cliffs of The Grand Canyon. I'm keeping this as a TXVQ journal. So, get it if you like posters and if you are TVXQ's fan. I think you'll be able to find at least 2 or 3 posters to be your favorites. There are only two slow ballads in this CD which are my favorites, Sad Song and (M's Epilogue). My rating for this CD is very high. Except for Tracks 1, 5 & 9 which has 0 stars and Tracks 7 & 8 are 4 stars, the rest of the tracks are are all 5 stars. I have to mention that Lee Min Woo is really a versatile and extremely smart composer and singer who is excellent in almost every type of songs that he has produced, be it hip-hop, r&b, jazzy or ballad. I think that he is always at the fore front of what's hot and trendy in the industry. Best of all, he is excellent at what he does because he is so talented, not to mention the fact that he possesses a very attractive voice. He also has excellent singing skills required for the different type of songs. I'm really happy for Min Woo and I think that he will prosper in the industry for a long time to come. I think that Koide Keisuke and Ayase Haruka were well chosen for their roles and they both did an excellent job. Koide as the dorky nerd is very realistic and lovable. I also like Ayase a lot because of her cuteness and looks. The movie is flawed in that the director spent too much efforts on the earth quake scenes which were realistic, but a little excessive and not very original. Since the central plot is based on science fiction, it was a let down to see the unsophisticated and not scientifically update appearance of old Jiro, the creator of Cyborg, appearing on his wheel chair. If Mr. Kwok or the production crew had seen the real life pictures of the world eminent physicist, Stephen Hawking, they probably would have a better idea how to create a more credible scientist, the central figure and to give more credence to the movie.
That being said, I still love how Mr. Kwok, the master of love stories once again showing the familiar funny and sad episodes. I also want to complement the ending episodes of the movie. It takes a little longer to end when you think that the movie ends. Just watch it! I'm also speculating the possibility of an 'intermediate movie' base on the period when Jiro is left alone to do his research after Cyborg left him. Will there be occasional visits to Jiro by Cyborg, or will Jiro have other love stories in between? Also, I think that the OST track sang by Miasa(?) is very good. So, watch this movie! I believe that he has real substance and intellect, and his interview cemented his position as one of my top favorites.
