　　阿信不辭而別離家出走，回顧自己的心路歷程…..

　　阿信的女兒阿禎在名古屋讀大學，在學校她認識了一個男人，可以這個男人常常向阿禎要錢。阿禎覺得不勝騷擾，這樣下去也不是辦法，只好放棄學業回到伊勢。在哥哥阿仁的介紹之下跟辰則結婚了。昭和42年，田倉超市從20個人的小店變成了大超市，阿仁不顧阿信的反對堅決要開連鎖店。而阿信對強勢作風的阿仁一直深感不安。另一方面，希望跟百合生下兒子小圭。這著雖然窮困可是很幸福溫暖的生活。有次希望的作品在展示會上得獎了。

　　田倉超市第二家店，第三家店相繼開幕，生意都不錯，這時的阿信才鬆了一口氣。希望的新工作室跟新房子落成，在搬家的前一天百合發生車禍過世了。此時的希望第一次在自己的工作室裡完成作品，而這時作品也得到很高的評價。希望忍著失去百合的悲傷，在陶藝界裡踏出穩定的第一步。田倉超市第四、五家店開幕了，隨著社會經濟的繁榮，生意更是蒸蒸日上。

　　阿信決定要阿仁出資幫初子開店，阿仁感念初子過去的付出，毫不猶豫的就同意。阿仁強勢的經營手法成功了，田倉超市成為擁有１６家分店的大企業。在阿信８１歲生日那天，阿仁提出第１７家分店的開店計劃。阿信聽到這個計劃臉色大變，因為在這家店附近有浩太兒子開的並木商店，一旦開了這第１７家店，勢必會影響到他的生意，所以對這個計劃阿信非常反對。

　　第１７家店開幕對田倉家來說，應該是個值得紀念的日子。結果卻在這一天阿信突然不辭而別離家出走了。田家倉家因而大亂，擔心阿信的小圭尋線找到離家的阿信，決定陪著阿信一起去旅行。踏著阿信一生的足跡，阿信回顧自己的一生，走過山形、東京、佐賀、伊勢。大約一個月後，阿信回到田倉家，就如同之前阿信所擔心的一樣，田倉家面臨危機，因為並木把他的土地賣給大型超市的大財團，一旦大型超市一開，田倉家的事業就會血本無歸，這一次田倉家面臨了空前的大危機。

I watched "oshin" on Hong Kong TV channel more than 20 years ago. I am a fan of oshin. I have been waiting for this TV programme to be transferred in DVD. When I travelled to Japan in 2004, I spotted this item. I bought volume 5 (taiheiyou senshou hen) immediately. I did not buy the whole series because I was not sure whether the DVD would be able to be played on DVD player in Hong Kong.

When I returned to Hong Kong, I was pleased that it could be played. The quality was superb. It has Japanese subtitle and it is very convenient since my Japanese is not so good. The Japanese subtitle is quite difficult to understand due to my low standard. However, since I have watched the programme and read the novel for many times and read the novel, it is not a serious problem for me to understand the DVD in Japanese.

Volume 5 is about the life of oshin between 1931 and 1945 (The Pacific War). Yet, the first episode (186) is about the death of okayosama which happened in 1930. As it is said on the subtitle, the war had taken away from oshin those that cannot be replaced, it is the most tragic part in oshin's life. Oshin lost his first son and husband in the war. Her career as a fisherman-merchant was also ruined. I am still moved by the sorrow suffered by oshin, even though I have watched the programme several times.


As I have said, the quality of the DVD is very good. In Hong Kong, although you can buy "oshin", it is in mandarin and the quality is very poor even though it is a DVD. In fact, I suspect that the DVD is produced from tape recorder rather than directly from the Japanese original.

I have recently decided to purchase the rest of the programme from Yesasia.com. It is very expensive, of course. Yet, I find it worthwhile.

This movie drama is the best i"ve watched but i need to get it in the english version because i speak and understaqnd only english, and i would like for my kids and grandkids to see the drama too. so if anyone knows where i can this movie in english version , or otherwise in english please let me know. Thanks.

Unforgetable story Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I'm not japanese, but me and my mom saw this drama years ago but everytime we talk about about it. We're both a gree that this is one of the best drama ever, I just wish that i have a chance to recorded into video so i can watch it over and over again. I would love to buy this DVD but it doesn't have any subtitle so I can't understand it
