Touted as Korea's Steven Spielberg, filmmaker Kang Woo Suk has been responsible for a string of box-office hits, including Two Cops, Public Enemy, and Silmido. Kang also wrote and directed Mister Mama, a 1992 romantic comedy starring the most bankable stars of the time, Choi Min Soo (Holiday, Sandglass) and Choi Jin Sil (The Letter, Last Scandal).

Ranked as the year's second-highest-grossing film, Mister Mama ignited the Korean comedy boom during the early 90's. Tough guy Choi Min Soo tries his hand at romantic comedy, offering a shift in gender roles as a clueless single father who learns a hard lesson about parenthood with a little help from on-screen charmer Choi Jin Sil. Alternating between laughter and tears, Mister Mama is one of the best mixes of comedy and melodrama that 90's Korean cinema has to offer.

Things are looking bleak for average Joe salaryman Hyung Joon (Choi Min Soo) when his unsatisfied wife suddenly walks out on him, leaving their helpless baby in his not-so-capable hands. Having no one else to turn to, Hyung Joon takes his baby to work, creating pandemonium at the office. But as time passes by, people in the workplace become accustomed to having the little tot around - even the self-proclaimed, baby-loathing female colleague Young Joo (Choi Jin Sil). Initially apprehensive of the whole "office baby" hoopla, Young Joo slowly loosens up, eventually forming a special bond with the baby and his goofball daddy.

밥 짓고 빨래하는 집안 일, 특히 아기 돌보는 일은 당연히 여자만의 몫이라고 생각하는 평범한 샐러리맨 형준은 어느날 아침 아들 상아의 울음소리에 눈을 뜬다. 집에서 애만 보는 것이 어쩐지 자기 인생만 손해보는 것 같다며 아내가 자기 선언을 하고 집을 나간 것이다. 그날부터 당장 아기를 맡길데가 없는 형준은 현대식으로 상아를 앞으로 둘러매고 기저귀 가방을 챙겨서 출근한다. 경직된 사무실은 갓난아기로 인해 작은 소란을 겪게 되지만 어느새 직장 동로들은 사무실 한구석의 아기 침대와 울음소리에 익숙해지고, 형준 또한 아기 우유주기, 기저귀 갈기, 이유식 만들어 먹이기, 아기 달래기 등에 능숙해진다. 그러던 중 사무실의 유일한 여자 영주가 형준이 일본 바이어 접대로 늦어지자 상아를 돌바주게 되고, 이를 계기로 형준과 영주의 감정은 서로 미묘해진다. 영주는 완벽한 조건을 갖춘 남자 해석이 오로지 소유의식만으로 그녀를 만나고 있음을 깨닫고 그와의 약속된 삶을 포기한다. 그리고 형준과 상아에 대한 사랑이 특별한 것임을 깨달은 영주는 그들에게 돌아온다.
