Lee Min Woo Vol. 4 - M Rizing

While the countdown is underway for Lee Min Woo's obligatory military duty scheduled for May 2009, Shinhwa pop extraordinaire M dishes out his fourth album only a year and three months after the release of his phenomenal third album Explore M. Borrowing the name from his own record label M Rising Entertainment, his latest album M Rizing features an abundance of catchy mainstream-friendly tracks. While Lee's three previous albums provided a solid base to hone his musical skills and build his name as a solo artist, the new album demonstrates the star's openness to collaborating with other talents in the industry, namely singer-turned-composer Lee Hyun Do (of Deux), renowned producer Brave Brothers, popular composer Jang Jun Ho, and ex-JYP Entertainment producer Kwon Tae Eun who previously wrote hits for both Rain and Wonder Girls. Moreover, the album features a delightful lineup of guests artists like Son Dam Bi, Mighty Mouse, and Yoo Bin of Wonder Girls. In conjunction with the album's September '08 release, M is launching his ambitious M Rizing concert tour which will be held throughout Asia over the next eight months.

지난 3집 앨범 이후 1년 3개월여 만에 선보이는 4집 앨범 “M RIZING”은 곡 선정부터 녹음까지 근 8개월여를 쉬지 않고 달려온 M이민우의 노력의 산물이다. 우선 “M RIZING”이라는 본인이 설립한 레이블 명칭을 앨범타이틀로 하며, 새로운 도약이라는 강한 음악적 의지를 대내외적으로 표현하고 있다. 전체적인 곡의 느낌도 지난 3장의 앨범들에 비해 보다 더 대중들에게 친밀하게 다가가려는 노력이 가득하다. 본인의 작품들로 이루어졌던 지난 앨범에 비해 외부 작품자와의 공동 작품이 많다는 점도 변화된 모습 중 하나이다. 현재는 작곡가로 더 많은 활약을 하고 있는 전 듀스 멤버 이현도씨, 가수 태양등을 프로듀서했던 용감한 형제, 비 원더걸스 등의 음악을 만들어낸 전 JYP 프로듀서 권태은씨과 ‘Last First Kiss, One Last Cry’ 의 작곡가인 장준호씨가 함께한 “The Play Dog” 등이 참여한 수록곡들은 그들의 명성에 걸맞게 M이민우의 가사와 어우러져 안정되고 세련된 사운드를 선사하고 있다. 지난 3장의 앨범들이 각각 새로운 음악의 시도의 장이었다면, 이번 앨범은 지난 앨범들에서의 음악적 노하우를 최대한 발휘한 완성도 높은 앨범이라고 할 수 있겠다.
